The Indian Summer Mission Guac Off!

Three years ago I was invited to join two friends to help organize a guacamole party in the mission. The mission of the party was to bring together friends and neighbors to have fun and eat guacamole. Oh, and there was going to be a competition where everyone votes on who made the the best guacamole.

Each year I design and code the site myself. It's a fun challenge for me since I don't generally do much frontend development. So I always look forward to a bit of frustration and excitement when things eventually come together.

Voting with Google Forms

When it came time to vote we had everone go to a specific URL where they could vote for their favorite Guac. We thought using Google Forms would help speed up the tallying—which is did. But it introcuded a ton of voter fraud and the transparency of voting was actually really discouraging.

I couldn't find every ingredient in the style I wanted, so took matters into my own hands and I drew them myself.
